Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026

The agreement between you and Midsentence when you use the service.

1. Who we are, and your acceptance

These Terms govern your use of Midsentence ("the service", "we", "us"), a language practice application operated by Sébastien Postansque, a sole proprietorship (Jednoosobowa Działalność Gospodarcza) registered in Poland, registered address Aleja 3 Maja 7A/54, 00-401 Warsaw, Poland.

By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Midsentence. If you are under 18, you may only use it with the consent of a parent or guardian. By using it you confirm that you meet these conditions.

3. What the service is

Midsentence helps you practise a language by holding conversations with an AI, either typed or spoken. You can rehearse real-life situations with an AI character, ask an AI tutor questions, and keep notes on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.

It is a practice tool, not a certified course, a qualification, or a substitute for a human teacher. It does not assess or certify your level.

4. You are talking to an AI

Every conversation in Midsentence is with artificial intelligence, not a person. The character in a scene and the tutor are both AI. No human reads or takes part in your conversations.

The replies, explanations, translations and notes are generated by artificial intelligence. They can be wrong, incomplete, or unnatural, and they may not reflect how a particular person would actually speak. Use them as practice material, and check anything that matters.

Conversations may take place in settings such as a pharmacy, a clinic or an office. The AI is playing a role for language practice only. Nothing it says is medical, legal, financial or professional advice, and you must not rely on it as such.

5. Your account

You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure and for everything done through your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it. We may suspend or close accounts that we reasonably believe are compromised or misused.

6. Subscriptions, minutes and top-ups

Midsentence is a paid subscription. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of speaking minutes and written practice. Current plans:

  • 60 minutes: €9 per month, with 60 minutes of speaking included
  • 200 minutes: €19 per month, with 200 minutes of speaking included

How minutes are counted. We count talk time: the seconds in which you or the character are actually speaking. Pauses and thinking time are not counted. Minutes are measured per turn and rounded up to the nearest second.

Renewal. Your plan's minutes reset at the start of each billing period. Unused plan minutes do not carry over.

Top-ups. You can buy additional minutes at any time at €2 per 10 minutes, with a minimum of 30 minutes per purchase. Top-up minutes are kept in a separate balance, do not expire, and are used only after your plan minutes for the period have run out.

Writing. Written conversations are included in every plan and are subject to the fair-use limit in section 7.

Prices are shown in euros and may vary by region because of local taxes. Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the merchant of record. Paddle's terms and privacy policy apply to your payment.

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time from your settings; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

Withdrawing. If you are a consumer in the EU you may withdraw within 14 days of subscribing. Because you ask us to start the service straight away and accept this when you subscribe, you pay for the part you have used and we refund the rest, as set out in the Refund Policy. Renewals do not open a new withdrawal period; cancelling stops the next charge.

7. Fair use

Every conversation is generated on demand and costs us money to produce, so written practice is subject to a reasonable daily limit. Your current usage, including speaking minutes and writing, is always visible on your account page, and we will tell you in the app before you reach a limit.

8. What you may not do

Midsentence is built on services provided by Anthropic and ElevenLabs, and their rules apply to your use of it as well as ours. You must not use the service, or try to make the AI produce anything, involving:

  • Sexual or explicit content of any kind, and anything sexualising or endangering a minor
  • Violence, threats, harassment, hatred or discrimination against people or groups
  • Illegal activity, including drugs, weapons, trafficking, fraud, scams or counterfeit goods
  • Malware, unauthorised access to systems, surveillance, or evading security measures
  • Impersonating a real person, or replicating anyone's voice without their consent
  • Self-harm, or medical, legal or financial advice presented as professional guidance
  • Election interference or deliberate misinformation

You must also not reverse engineer, copy or resell the service, access it with bots or scrapers without our written permission, interfere with or overload it, or share your account.

How this is enforced. Situations you write for custom practice are checked automatically before they are used, and refused if they fall into the categories above. Refusals are recorded. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, without notice where the breach is serious, and we may report unlawful activity to the authorities.

9. Ownership

Ours. The service, its design, code, name and content are ours and protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own language learning under these Terms.

Yours. What you write and say stays yours. You give us permission to process it only as far as is needed to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy. We claim no other rights over it.

10. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that AI replies will be accurate, or that it will meet your particular needs. You use it at your own risk.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Our total liability for all claims is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 100 euros.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer in the EU.

12. Indemnity

You agree to compensate us for claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the service.

13. Ending the agreement

By you: delete your account at any time from settings. Your data is removed as described in the Privacy Policy. Cancel any active subscription separately so that it does not renew.

By us: we may suspend or close your account if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, with notice where possible. Sections 9 to 12 and 14 survive termination.

14. Law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the law of Poland. If you are a consumer in the EU, you also keep the mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live.

Please contact us first at [email protected]; most problems can be sorted out informally. Otherwise, disputes go to the courts of Warsaw, Poland, except where the law lets you bring proceedings where you live. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

15. General

  • These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy are the whole agreement between us.
  • If any part is found invalid, the rest still applies.
  • Not enforcing a right does not waive it.
  • You may not transfer this agreement to someone else; we may assign it as part of a transfer of the service.
  • We are not responsible for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages of the providers we depend on.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will give at least 14 days' notice by email or in the app. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new Terms; if you do not, stop using the service and delete your account.
